Hi, I saw your post about the possum on the internet. I've got the exact same problem and wondered if you could give me some advice.
Two years ago, the house started to stink. We thought it was mold at first, but then it got real strong. A contractor pulled up part of the floor where the smell was strongest, and found a dead possum. Problem solved.
Two years later, and the smell is back. Yesterday, I got down in the very small crawlspace and crawled around for a couple of hours looking for another possum. Problem is, as you know, there's tons of insulation and no clues, except smell, where the thing might be. I didn't find any fly eggs.
One part of the crawlspace is also inaccessible, towards the front of the house, where we found the first possum. That's also now where the smell is strongest. So maybe another one went there to die.
I'm in Virginia. I know you only work in Orlando. My question: Any tips on what I can do besides ripping up the floor or having all the insulation replaced? How about venting the smell with a radon-type
fan and pipe setup? Any other ideas? Or any companies you can recommend up here in northern Oviedo?
I'd appreciate your advice. This thing smells terrible. Thanks.
